On the outskirts of Waco, just a few miles out, is a beautiful farm that is associated with HipCamp. The owner has her own property fenced in with a pond, which we were given access to for fishing. Our property area was adjacent to hers, relatively flat with a small wooded area.

We greatly enjoyed the freedom, privacy, and the expansive land to run the kids energy out. Our host was incredible and although we only were able to stay here a few nights. We contemplated pushing for more time just to enjoy her beautiful land.
F had decided that he did not have any desire to spend a day in town with Mommy, so L and I went out for a day of adventuring to Waco on our own. Our first stop and my main interest was Magnolia farms.
Wow.

To preface, I wasn’t really into watching Fixer Upper. To be even more transparent, I just googled the name of the show because I couldn’t remember. This tells you the level of knowledge I had of Magnolia Market at the Silos before entering. I have seen the show on a few odd occurences working out at a gym or sitting in a waiting area, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I arrived.
At first glance, I spotted the silos alerting me that I was in the right place. I parked down the street and walked the distance to the entrance. I spotted the bakery Silos Baking Co. which I had heard rave reviews about from friends. I can not stress enough how everyone should really try their lemon lavender cupcake, if given the chance. I brought a box of cupcakes back to camp to share under our outdoor porch on the property. I had been prefaced that the store doesn’t have as much as it used to, and although I have not been prior, I can agree that Target’s Hearth and Home selection is much larger than the selection at the actual Magnolia store. I was quite disappointed in the shear lack of things to look through. They did have their shirts and a plethora of them. I ended up walking out with a magnolia flower in a little vase and a tee shirt, not exactly what I had imagined from a home decor store.
However, I was truly amazed by the variety of little shops and the courtyard. A square of green space in front of the silos, covered eating areas draped with twinkle lights, food trucks draping the property, even a ball field for families to play together while visiting. There is a little lane leading up to several same sized shops bordering a flowering grass area in the middle. The shops there weren’t really in relation to Magnolia, but sold some of their products. Until my visit, I was unaware that there is a furniture store on premises and Magnolia’s own coffee shop. Apparently, there is a Magnolia restaurant in town too, but I did not have enough time to visit there.
Overall, I believe Magnolia is a beautiful way to spend an afternoon. However, I couldn’t see myself ever taking a trip for the sole purpose of seeing it. If you find yourself, like me, not really a Fixer Upper fan, but liking the way the brand decorates. Go to your nearest Target, grab a starbucks while you shop, close your eyes and imagine silos. There you have it my friend, welcome to Waco. (minus the delicious cupcakes)
